You don't have to have all the answers

This man who hated Jesus still obeyed and did what God told him to do. It didn't say he asked hundreds of questions or fell into victim mode feeling sorry for himself. He simply obeyed and went. 

A few months ago I was reading through the book of Acts and was reminded of the story of Paul. For those that may be as clueless as I was awhile back, Paul had a name change. 

Before his encounter with Jesus and his life changed, people called him Saul. 

I want to encourage her to read the story of Saul's first encounter with Jesus in Acts Ch 9.

Saul was a man that HATED Christians. His mission was to arrest them and take them out. 

Pay attention to these specific verses that I'm paraphrasing (just in case you are pressed for time or don't have a Bible). 

^{vs 3 As he neared Damascus on his journey, suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him.} 

^{vs 4 He fell to the ground and heard a voice say to him, "Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?"} 

^{vs 5 "Who are you, Lord?" Saul asked. "I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting," he replied.} 

^{vs 6 "Now get up and go into the city and you will be told what to do."}

^{vs 7 The men traveling with Saul stood there speechless, they heard the sound but did not see anyone.} 

^{vs 8 Saul got up from the ground but when he opened up his eyes, he could see nothing. So they led him by the hand into Damascus.} 

^{vs 9 For three days he was blind, and did not eat or drink anything.} 

And, while verse 10 and the rest of the chapter is worth talking about, I want to stop here today and point a few things out. 

Recognize that Saul was on his way to do his agenda. He planned to arrest anyone who followed Jesus to destroy the church. But then he had an encounter that changed him forever. 

It knocked him on his butt and left him BLIND.

Never underestimate a setback. It may be the exact thing necessary for you to propel forward with an incredible comeback. 

Also, to be noted, Jesus didn't give him a lot of details. He simply said, "Get up and go." It wasn't explained beforehand. He had all the reasons to say no, dismiss it, and turn around and go home. He didn't. 

So, can I turn the tables on you for a moment?

How is it this man who didn't love Jesus was obedient and yet those of us who would call ourselves Christians today aren't always willing to? 

Today, I want to challenge you to be like Paul. Ask God to grow your faith. We can't move forward if we settle for staying where we are.

Be expectant because He will do it. Take action.

We can never move forward if we aren't willing to take the first step. Forget about what people will think. Stop living in fear that you will mess it up. God is bigger than all of our mistakes and as a Christian we need to be more concerned with pleasing God  than worrying about the opinions of others.
